Weeding & garden tidy ups in Craigieburn
A visitor friendly garden
Grass doesn’t stop growing just because we get busy. Weeds don’t stop when our knees and back are sore. All it takes is a few weeks of neglect and, before you know it, your garden is an ugly mess! What do you do?
Call Forget Me Not Gardening! Our simple garden tidy service will help your garden feel cared for again. We provide hand weeding services to Craigieburn, Mickleham, Greenvale, Roxburgh Park, Meadow Heights and surrounding suburbs. If you need a more intensive garden clean up, we can do that, too.
Just weeding
Sometimes you just want someone to pull weeds. How hard can it be? Well, pretty hard, apparently.
A lot of companies won’t do little jobs. When you do find one, they may only want to slash weeds and leave them to grow back. Others want to spray your garden with poisonous chemicals.
If any of that sounds familiar, fear not! We love hand weeding. The act of weed removal calms the mind. It is also the first job in the garden that has instant impact.
Enjoy peace of mind with chemical free hand weeding. Book now on (03) 8313 5242 or send us a text.
Garden clean ups
Sometimes it’s not just weeds getting out of control in your garden. Maybe you didn’t get around to pruning shrubs last season. Or you’ve been on an endless waitlist since the grass went wild. Not to worry. It may be time for a one-off garden clean up.
Our garden tidy service covers more than hand weeding. We can assist with:
- Brush cutting or whipper snipping
- Lawn mowing and edging
- Bush and shrub trimming
- Green waste removal
- Rubbish and hard waste removal
- Raking leaves
- End of lease gardening
Forget Me Not Gardening offers an entry level service that aims to leave you with a neat and tidy garden. You can choose a one-off garden clean up or repeat visits for ongoing garden maintenance.
Save on rubbish and green waste removal
If you have council supplied bins, we can dispose of clippings, leaves and rubbish in the appropriate bins free of charge.
Don’t have a green waste bin? Some weeds and clippings can be left to decompose in a discreet corner of your garden. The “chop and drop” method adds nutrients to the soil and is kind to the environment.
If you prefer us to remove all waste off site, we can do so for an additional fee or will recommend hiring a skip.
Not sure if you can afford a garden tidy up?
Weed control and suppression
Garden weeding can be a thankless task. No matter what you do, the weeds just keep coming back. As much as we love hand weeding, we do like your garden to stay tidy as long as possible between jobs.
We offer an add-on service to assist or advise on natural methods to control weeds. These include:
- Use of cardboard and mulch
- Hot water treatment
- Planting tough groundcovers
We prefer to be chemical free. Weeds can become resistant to sprays. Chemicals are also damaging to you, the environment and beneficial insects in the garden.
No method is fool proof. Birds will continue to drop seed. Winds bring seed from neighbouring properties. And some weeds are just plain stubborn or hard to remove.
Talk to us on (03) 8313 5242 to see how we can help control weeds in your garden. If hand weeding or weed suppression is not the best choice for your garden, we will let you know upfront.
Frequently asked questions
How much does yard clean-up cost?
General garden maintenance, including hand weeding, is offered at $60 per hour. If the weeds are out of control, we suggest an initial garden tidy.
We offer garden tidy ups at competitive prices for Craigieburn and surrounding areas. Depending on the size of your garden, we recommend a minimum four hours ($240) for a small garden. See our price guide here.
Is hand weeding effective?
The best hand weeding occurs when the soil is moist, before or during flowering. Once seed is set, there are likely to be seeds left behind. Pulling weeds out by the roots before they seed is one of the easiest and most effective ways to stop the spread.
Certain weeds, particularly those with underground bulbs, require more care. Just pulling the weed will likely cause bulbs to be left behind to regrow. In this case, a variety of methods can be used, such as suppression and hot water treatment.
Can you whipper snipper weeds?
Whipper snippers are only meant for grass. Weeds with tough stems should be avoided. Alternatively, a brush cutter with a blade may be more appropriate.
We prefer hand weeding whenever possible. There may be exceptions, such as heavily overgrown yards. We can use a combination of tools and techniques, depending on your requirements. See our list of tools here.
